So… Bushmills Distillery shares a birthday with Hitler. It also happens to be my wedding anniversary. Which is how I know about the Hitler thing. You see, when I announced the happy news of my impending nuptials to my work colleagues at the time, one of them took great delight in pointing out that 20 April was also the Fuhrer’s birthday. She seemed to see this as some sort of bad omen. She wasn’t invited to the wedding.

Thankfully, when it came to bad omens, she was wrong. My marriage is still going strong. And so is Bushmills Distillery, which celebrated its 400th birthday in 2008, making it officially the world’s oldest legal distillery. It is also the second largest selling Irish whiskey in the world. Seems like 20 April has been a pretty good date for them then. Us too, just in case you’re interested.

Bushmills is the only Irish whiskey maker to keep all the stages of production in-house. Distilling, blending, maturation and bottling are all done on site. The result is an exquisite smoothness and sweetness that forms the basis of the the distillery’s range.
